Pinstripe Suits, a Merc in the porch and month long vacations in the Caribbean. It’s almost certain that every single person who has stepped into Entrepreneurship might have atleast once thought of living such a life.

And though many do reach that prospect, it’s not overnight success.

It takes a brave person to start a venture on his own and an even braver person to keep it going. Sleepless nights, tight deadlines, living off on caffeine and adopting stress as your middle name; all happen to a startup entrepreneur at one point of time or the other. Finance is hard to come by and each penny knows its worth the way it rolls.

Depending on the industry, breaking even of revenue may take time or might happen from the first project forth. Growth may reach a negative stage at one point or might even flat-line. All these are part of the game. A game, which is nothing less than an intelligent gamble.Continue reading

evernote linkedin card scanning camera pic

Letters have been replaced by eMails. Resumes are now sent in PDF rather than print and bills can be paid online rather than in hard cash.

The past few decades have seen a rather generous decrease in the usage of paper, and all for the right reasons, thanks to technology. One of the many things that it missed out on, was visiting cards.

Not anymore.

Evernote, the ever so useful mobile app, has now also transformed to a business card scanning app, in integration with LinkedIn. With LinkedIn’s 300 Million users and Evernote’s 75 Million, they have taken off the partnership to newer dimensions.

Evernote can now scan the visiting card and store all the contact information from it, with link to current LinkedIn profile, photo, plus section for adding notes and such. Though this doesn’t altogether eliminate the usage of business cards, it sure does help in storage of the data better and searchable for future reference.Continue reading

bombay mirror short film

Rarely do I come across stuff on the internet that blows my mind to the extent that I write about it. This, is one such time.

Following is a 3 min short film by Asst. Director/Director Shlok Sharma, who has worked with films like Dev D and Gangs of Wasseypur and starring National Award Winner Rajkumar Rao.

Its a touchy topic that is portrayed here – religious fanaticism. The metaphors are spot on – representing the mindset of the  Common Man who lives in a bubble and mostly believes what the media feeds him; easily influenced mentality of a good number of youth who follow mindset of the larger following rather than thinking for self.

So, is the representation correct? Maybe, maybe not. But it does strike a few chords right. Am not saying that all people jump to conclusions similarly; but this does depict a good majority of how a good number of people take decisions in this “secular” country.

It’s just a satire on the unpredictability of human nature. So stay calm and move on.

I first read about the video here.

character vs reputation

Homo Sapiens – The entire species is as much a human being as it tries being human. Everyone has the same flaws, same mindset, same character. Only difference arises in being able to modulate each to its own level and preference.

Character and Reputation. Probably the two most important words around which a person revolves his whole life about. While some worry about perception of their reputation, the fewer of the lot focus on a strong character – the true inner self. And this is exactly where most of us get our choices wrong.

character vs reputation

Reputation is what others perceive about us. Character, is who we genuinely are. Though character is what we truly control and the reins to our reputation lie in the hands of others, many lose a night’s sleep over it. Common human tendency I’d say – go berserk over things you can’t control while do nothing about things you actually can.Continue reading

Spartan 300 rise of an empire illustration

After watching the movie 300 rise of an Empire, I was thoroughly impressed by the intensity of the character Themistocles in it. And also, since it had been quite a long time since I drew anything, gave it a shot.

In the learning stages, so yes there’s a lack of perfection. But for a change, rather than using the “Dodge and Burn” tool, used the right colours to better understand the colour mix. The letters “300” above, got from the web, whereas “Rise of an Empire” has been written using League Gothic Font.

About 6 hours of sitting and drawn with my Wacom Bamboo One CTE 460 Tablet.
